God, above all else

My faith is a big part of who I am, and while I often don't talk about it as much as other people do, it is a deeply personal thing to me. I identify as Christian and I am part of this wonderful community called Church Simplified. I share glimpses of my faith journey here and here. I am still working out the kinks and it is an every day struggle, but if you walk with other people who are also trying to figure it out, it becomes a little less lonely and even more interesting.

My family

My Mama and my brother are the two most important people in the world to me. We sometimes act like we're friends (but with the necessary respect for our mom of course) and we genuinely enjoy spending time with each other. I hope. Well, except for the days when each of us have our own "sumpong". I would do anything for these two.

My work (and ministry)

Not everyone can say that they genuinely love their work. But for the past almost 8 years that I've been with OMF Literature, despite the occassional lows and difficulties (and other things), I can definitely say that I still love my job. I get to work with books (even though they're not usually the ones I prefer to read), I get to experiment with digital and social media, I work with people I like, and I get to just walk to and from my house. Plus, it is a ministry as well, as we get to talk about Jesus and life through the stuff that we produce and sell. So yeah, work is pretty good.

Reading and Writing

People who've known me for a long time (or even just recently) know about my love affair with books. I talk about how reading changed my life here. I promise myself I won't buy any more books because our house is being overrun, and yet I still continue buying them (physically and digitally). And hello, I work with books, so that's already one dead giveaway.

This year, 2017, I finally gave in and decided to write my own book. Writing has always been part of me from the time I learned how to write and then my English teacher told me I could actually write. But then I started putting off my writing projects (including this blog) for various reasons, but the past year or so, I couldn't stop thinking about the two writing projects I want to do. So 2018 is going to be the year that I can hopefully finish both.

Pop Culture

This is kind of obvious since I have an entire section in this blog dedicated to it. Movies, music, books, TV shows, geek stuff - I could probably talk to you for hours about this. And I also like asking other people about their favorites because I can get a glimpse into who you are by what kind of pop culture you like. Some of my favorites

  • Buffy the Vampire Slayer
  • The whole Tolkien universe
  • Star Wars
  • Doctor Who
  • Anything Neil Gaiman
  • Game of Thrones
  • Mythology (Greek, Roman, Norse, etc)
  • Princess Bride
  • Lost
  • X Files
  • Battlestar Galactica
  • Romance novels
  • etc etc etc
